Tools - Circle Cutter
This is used to cut the rosette channels. I also use it to cut soundholes and solid wood rosettes.
I built this based on a description in John Bogdanovich's book, Classical Guitar Making: A Modern Approach to Traditional Design. Mine was made to fit on my Bosch Colt laminate trimmer. Works great.
It's made from acrylic plastic and has 3 parts:
- An extended base. This piece contacts the wood.
- An adjustable piece that contains a pivot point (in my case a piece of 1/4" aluminum rod).
- A spacer between the extended base and the rounter that allows the adjustable pivot point to move close to the router bit (for a small radius circle.
